Yes. Faxy dials the recipient number over the telephone network and talks to the machine in the standard fax protocol. The receiving side prints or stores the fax exactly as if it came from another machine. Your receipt shows the number dialed, the pages sent and the result.
Faxy gives you the controls a covered entity needs: encrypted transmission and storage, named users, roles, an activity log and a business associate agreement on the Enterprise plan. HIPAA compliance also depends on how your organization handles documents, so read the HIPAA page and involve your compliance officer.
In most cases yes. You can port a number you already use to Faxy, or you can start with a new number and forward the old one while the transfer completes. Porting is handled by the carrier and timing depends on the current provider.

PDF, Word, Excel, plain text and common image formats such as JPG and PNG. Files are converted to fax pages automatically. Scanned paper works too when it is saved as PDF or an image.
Yes. The Business and Team plans include a REST API for sending faxes, reading status and fetching received documents. You can also use webhooks to be told when a fax is delivered or arrives.
Yes. Incoming faxes are delivered to the people you choose as PDF attachments and are stored in the archive at the same time.
Each plan includes a number of pages per month. A page is counted when it is sent or received. Unused pages do not roll over to the next period, and removing a fax from the archive does not give pages back.
Faxy retries automatically. If the fax still cannot be delivered, the receipt shows the failure reason and you are notified so you can resend or call the recipient.
Yes. On the Business and Team plans you can add users, assign roles and decide who can see which numbers. The activity log records who sent, opened or downloaded each fax.
No. Plans start at 49 USD per month, and annual billing takes 50 percent off the monthly price. You can try the flow in the demo on the home page without an account.
