Step one, you send

You upload a file, send an email or call the API. Faxy converts the document into fax pages and queues the job.

Step two, Faxy dials

Faxy calls the recipient number and the two machines agree on a speed and format. If the line is busy, Faxy waits and retries.

Step three, you get a receipt

When the last page is accepted, the status becomes delivered and the receipt records the time, the number and the pages. If delivery fails, the receipt says why.

Receiving

For incoming faxes the process runs in reverse. A machine calls your number, Faxy receives the pages, builds a PDF and sends it to your people while saving a copy in the archive.

Online internet fax and the phone network

An online internet fax service sits between your browser and the telephone network. You use a web screen, and the recipient sees a normal fax, so neither side has to change equipment.

Questions

It depends on the page count and the recipient machine. Most faxes finish within minutes, and the status in your account shows progress.
The receipt shows what the other machine reported. If the transmission failed, resend or call the recipient.
